I am getting 3 months away from work from May to August, and I want to spend it so I benefit from it. So I started checking into exactly how to get in good shape on a holiday. A fitness holiday seems to have all the elements I am looking for. Losing weight, being close to other individuals with the very same mind set so I will not be sidetracked all the time and exercising every day.
OK, so I made my mind up. 3 months on a fitness holiday, but what. I did not just want to be in a workout room just about all the time, I desire to see some beaches, get a suntan and get to know a different culture so I started to look on the internet (I simply adore the world-wide-web!) and came up with some good tips for a fitness holiday.
They had so many cool fitness holiday programmes. The ones in China, Thailand and the fitness holiday in Brazil caught my eye. These are three countries I would love to visit and it would be ideal if I can combine it with getting fit on a fitness holiday. In all three countries they had Martial arts, and I love Martial arts.
I found a fitness holiday in Thailand where you can combine different martial arts and train every day up to eight hours. Wonderful just what I need. This means I can check out the different martial arts, train on the beach (they have weekly beach sessions) train with national champions which allows me to get to understand the culture better and have healthy food without too many distractions from parties going on since this fitness holiday is secluded.
The other option for a fitness holiday I saw on their website was a fitness holiday in China. The Chinese Martial Arts is Kung Fu. Very complex but very interesting. Here you would stay at the campus with like minded people of all ages and all nationalities. No beaches around, but the fitness holiday camp is situated in a world heritage, so that is cool too. And you will have the option to learn mandarin.
The coolest programme for me is the Capoeira programme in Rio, Brazil! Wow stay in the Favela, train up to 5 days a week with a personal trainer. And during this fitness holiday programme you can visit the busiest beach in Rio, it is in walking distance. I know how hard I will train to lose my puppy fat and walk in my stride on the beach next to all the hot Capoeira boys.
Since my parents find sports really important and they have travelled the whole world their selves when they were young, I know they will agree on me attending a fitness holiday on my gap year. They also say that travelling alone will make me a better person and although I think this is nonsense, I am fine the way I am, I am going to agree with them so I can be free for a while.
The reason why I want to book my fitness holiday through a gap year company is that they will be there for me to support me to make the right choice, there will be other gap year students on the fitness holiday so I will make new friends easily and they provide a 24/7 back up. This is cool, because I do want to go alone on my Fitness holiday and gap year but secretly I am a bit afraid too.
